“Compostable” means the finished pouch meets a standard such as EN 13432 or ASTM D6400, including the ink, adhesive and any valve. PLA/PBAT is the material route; the certificate is issued per product.
PLA (polylactic acid) and PBAT blends provide compostability while maintaining barrier performance. Kraft paper with PLA liner is also available.
Food-contact suitability is material-based: ask for the declaration and any migration test reports for the finished pouch, and confirm the specific use with your importer.
MOQ is 10,000 pieces for multi-layer compostable pouches due to lamination machine minimums. Plain stock bags are available from 1,000 pieces.
